Sand Squid's frist week

The part about leaving was hard. You know the family being close and all, some of them went to the airport to see me off. That was a hoot mother told everyone to be at the airport at 14:00 my flight didn't leave till 16:50. So some of them were calling me and Jenny wanting to know were we where. Then we all checked in at the ticket counter one by one id's in hand. As we go through security my niece had to donate her lotion and perfume to the TSA. My stepfather well you kinda have to know him he's way old school from a different time or way of life. He walks through the metal detector and sounds all the bells and whistles. You know the type bag of chow in his back pocket (aluminum foil), wad of keys hanging on his belt, and two pocket knives. Well needless to say we said our good byes at that point. We all -1 went to the gate to wait for that time to come. I was able to have a friend fly out to California with me we both had a wonderful 4 Hr 18 min flight to LAX. Once we got there it was get the $11.49 truckey sandwich and bottle water for dinner and prepare for our two hour scenic journey through simi valley and moorpark to lovely ventura county, Port Hueneme Ca. We went to gear issue on Monday just to start thing out not getting everything, All day briefs Tuesday, medical Wednesday (more shots), Thursday
dental (smile) everything good with teeth thanks goodness, Friday Gas mask fitting What fun! More equipment issue then to the computer lab to do 14 course's online just in order to have two days off. Sunday will be a long day but its R/R they gave us free nascar tickets to the auto lite 500. Well please let me know how everyone is doing by visiting my blog. By the way I have alot of christian brothers out here with me so they will be fun to work with. One of them has asked me to help him witness to whom we can, IE. we have Arabic /English Book of John and Romans to hand out about 300.

Count me in on the witnessing brother Jim. Having met a fellow good Christian family man like yourself will make the deployment much easier. So lets get a move on Gump! *G*

Glad you got a good start and had a safe flight Jim. I'm praying for you. What's this about a free Nascar ticket. You should have heard Terry Waters talking about that in church today. I think he was a little green with envy. Big Nascar guy I guess. Anyway, God Speed brother.

Jim:
Unsure how to leave these comments. I left one about a month ago but clearly it didn't take.

I've been following your blog and hope all goes well for you. Nancy, Claire, and I are praying for your safe return. Holler back as you can.
